Supporting Adults & Children to Come Home to Their Bodies
One of the most beautiful truths I’ve learned through my somatic intimacy training is this: the body is not the problem it is the solution.
Whether I am working with a child or an adult, my sessions follow the same foundational approach. Our nervous systems all function from the same biological blueprint. The difference is simply language and developmental stage.
What a Session Looks Like
We begin with a gentle conversation. Nothing clinical. Nothing overwhelming. Just space. We talk about what’s been happening. What feels hard. What feels big. What happens in your body when things don’t feel okay.
From there, we move into somatic body awareness. This isn’t about “fixing” anything. It’s about noticing.
Where do you feel tension?
What sensations show up when you feel overwhelmed?
What happens in your chest, your belly, your jaw?
So often, people have never been invited to slow down and truly feel into their body. And yet, that’s where regulation begins.
Understanding the Nervous System
I also spend time explaining how the nervous system works. When we understand what is happening inside us, shame begins to soften. Your body is not overreacting. Your child is not “too much.” The nervous system is doing exactly what it was designed to do: protect.
Through simple, accessible somatic practices, I teach tools that help bring the nervous system back into a regulated state. Yes, breath can be part of this, but it is not the only strategy. Especially for children, breathing alone is often not enough.
We explore a range of regulation tools such as:
Movement-based practices
Grounding through the senses
Orienting and environmental awareness
Body-based containment and pressure
Safe activation and safe settling
For children in particular, I focus on practical strategies they can use in real-life heightened moments, at school, at home, in social situations. I empower them with the understanding that their reactions are normal. Their body is not broken.
I teach them this powerful message:
Your body knows what it’s doing. My role is not to “control” the body. My role is to give tools and language so they can build a relationship with it.
Meeting Each Person Where They Are
Every nervous system is different. Every story is different. My work deeply informed by my somatic intimacy and nervous system training allows me to meet each person at the level their body is ready for. We go gently. We go safely. We go at a pace that honours capacity.
Regulation is not about becoming calm all the time. It’s about building flexibility. It’s about increasing capacity. It’s about trust.
When we learn to listen inward, something shifts. The body already holds the wisdom. We simply learn how to hear it.
In-person sessions are based in Invercargill, New Zealand. Online sessions are held via Google Meet.
Children's first session - 45 minutes - $70 NZD
Children's follow up session - 30 minutes - $50 NZD
Adults first session - 1 hour - $90 NZD
Adults follow up session - 45 minutes - $70 NZD
